Table of Contents

Welcome!

From June 18 to July 30 (2001) Katy and I drove across the United States. We took our time, we snapped a lot of pictures, and we added a lot of miles to my car. The links in the above table of contents lead to the various stages in our journey. While we did a lot of camping (and lemme tell you, camping can be a true test of a relationship!), we also were fortunate to find many relatives along the way willing to not only let us in the door, but to also let us stay for awhile. In order of visits:

Thank you to everyone on this list. Coming right out of college, we never would have had the resources to stay in motels all the way across the country. Plus it was fun getting a chance to spend time with all of you.

Finally, the picture gracing the top of this page is probably from Lake Agnes, CO.

Miscellaneous Information

What do the italics mean?

During the trip I kept a daily journal (that skipped most days and actually had entries haphazardly). Any text in italics preceded by a date is from the journal.

Mileage

If you go to www.mapquest.com and ask it for the distance between Lansing, NY and Redmond, WA you'll find that the distance is 2,900 miles and change. Katy and I certainly did not take the direct route. If you do the math from the snapshots above, you'll find that it took us 8,109 miles from start to finish. Wow
