Two points stick out from our stay at Uncle Fred and Aunt Mary's. First, they were incredibly welcoming. Second, the mosquitos were lethal the night we got there. June 22, 2001 [We spent the day] at Greenfield Village in Deerborn, MI. Greenfield is a park adjacent to the Henry Ford Museum [and is] dedicated to the innovative American spirit. We had a lot of fun there, riding on steam locomotives and steam boats and a 1913 carousel. There are also a lot of famous persons' houses that have been moved there (such as the Wright brothers' home and bicycle shop). June 23, 2001 . . . We visited Paul and Bettie Downie in Fort Wayne, IN. They have a real nice place. Paul has a hobby of trying to breed new hybrid daylilies. Thier children---Ben, Becca, and Will---were busy so we didn't really see them. June 24, 2001 After naps and laundry . . . the four of us went on a bike ride for about 8 miles. Poor Katy's seat wouldn't go low enough, so some areas of her backside are a bit sore from all the see-sawing back and forth across the seat. Still, she was in pretty good humor after that. |
